Why should we get rid of alcohol?

Alcohol has become a major problem in society, causing many negative side-effects. It is estimated that alcohol causes over 600,000 deaths per year and damages approximately $250 billion of personal property. Alcohol also leads to crime, increases the risk of sexual violence, and is responsible for 43% (roughly half) of traffic accidents. Alcoholism also affects every level of our society: entire families are affected by alcoholism as well as communities in which we live. There are more than 7 million people currently living with an alcohol use disorder (AUD). Anytime you hear about someone dying from alcohol related diseases or someone being charged with drunk driving/drunken driving, it's directly because they caused those tragedies by drinking too much. The following argument is a basic argument against the use of alcohol in society, with the central premise being that drinking causes social problems.
